Life is complex and all-encompassing. By introducing structure, we will simplify reality. We will flatten life’s complexities here and define broad areas of life that collect a few topics with a common theme. We ignore a few intricacies, but at least make it workable. I cannot write all of this without simplifications and you cannot take action having to consider every nuance. We have to start somewhere.

Begin with considering your life within the boundaries of the theme and slowly integrate different themes within an area of life. Then, you might combine insights of themes of different areas of life. Eventually, you will create your own nuanced version of your worldview.

To me there are four areas of life each with four themes. The areas and their themes are

The areas of life and their themes are up for discussion. Create your own version of them, or copy this structure as is. I’ve always come back to some variation of this design. Sometimes with different names (“wealth” instead of “financial health”) and sometimes with more themes (“recreation” and “creativity” instead of “rest, play and creativity”). Feel free to create your own design or use this one to fit your needs.
